Tutor
These workshops are not easily available so to have Carmen Simmonds, a well known professional glass artist and experienced glass tutor from Whanganui, running a two day beginner workshop, is fantastic.
What
This informative and fun filled two day workshop is a comprehensive introduction for beginners in glass casting.
You will learn the ancient art of lost wax casting and mould making to create a beautiful glass box piece embellished with your own designs and textures.
You will design and mould the piece and select the glass colours for your creation.
Your mould will return to Whanganui with Carmen for firing and final presentation and be sent to you in its completed form.
As part of the workshop you will receive your own Sculptbox. The Sculptbox is a highly innovative idea developed by Carmen.
Carmen is keen to make the art form of glass casting more accessible, so has designed a box with all the key resources required, supported by an online learning presence and access to her kiln so that you can learn how to create a piece at home.
You will use your Sculpbox as the basis of the workshop under the experienced tuition of Carmen.
Places are limited so be in quick.
